IMP-17 — Referenced-Figure Pages, Batch 2: the long tail (15 people) — Design
Status: Approved 2026-07-01
Source item: IMP-17 (work/IMPROVEMENTS.md) — the long tail of figures referenced within the corpus, continuing IMP-16.
Branch: pluck/imp-17-referenced-figures-batch-2
Goal
Create entity-person pages for 15 more notable figures mentioned within the
corpus's books and articles, extending the Fuller relationship map begun in
IMP-16. Same model, same controlled vocabulary — this batch fills out the map
with the strongest of the lesser-mentioned figures.
Context
- Reuses the IMP-16 model verbatim (
docs/superpowers/specs/2026-07-01-referenced-people-relationship-map-design.md):
entity-personpage, controlledrelationship:field + mirrored
relationship-<type>tag, a## Relationship to Fullersection, a body link
tor-buckminster-fuller(centering the graph, not a See Also peer), and
bidirectional figure↔work / figure↔person links. - Selection principle (from brainstorming): curate by substance, not by the
original IMP-17 name list. Floor = ≥3 corpus mentions OR clear,
specific Fuller-relationship substance. A mention scan acrossraw/repos,
raw/articles, andwiki/topicsproduced the counts below; all 15 are
confirmed new (deduped against the 77 existing person pages). - No new vocabulary. Every figure fits the 9-value set established through
IMP-16 + IMP-18:collaborator·influence-on-fuller·
influenced-by-fuller·friend·family·contemporary·rival-critic·
forebear·chronicler.

Two below-floor inclusions justified by relationship substance: Jonas Salk
(mutual admiration; "biophilosophy" / survival-of-the-wisest) and Walther
Bauersfeld (built the first geodesic dome at the Zeiss planetarium in 1922 —
the dome patent-priority story, a specific and important forebear relationship).
If any figure's corpus grounding proves too thin to write honestly at
implementation time, drop it and note it in the deferred list rather than
padding with fabricated detail.
Relationship rationale (the queryable axis — get these right)
- collaborator — Werner Erhard (Fuller was a trustee/ally of est and The
Hunger Project; they shared platforms). - influence-on-fuller — Alfred North Whitehead (process philosophy behind
Fuller's "comprehensive" stance). - forebear — Isaac Newton (Fuller's recurring foil, "Newton was a sleeper,
Einstein was awake"), Charles Darwin, Johannes Kepler (polyhedral-geometry
lineage), Nikola Tesla (admired inventor-predecessor), Immanuel Kant
(a priori/a posteriori epistemology Fuller engaged), Walther Bauersfeld
(first geodesic dome, 1922). - contemporary — Robert Smithson, Bertrand Russell, Andy Warhol, Noam
Chomsky, Susan Sontag, Jasper Johns, Jonas Salk (parallel figures of Fuller's
era, referenced alongside him without a documented collaboration or
directional influence).
Page model (unchanged from IMP-16)
Frontmatter: title, category: topic, created/updated/verified: 2026-07-01,
confidence, volatility: cold, aliases, summary; relationship: <type>;
sources: (the resolvable raw pointer from the table) or
compiled-from: conversation when the anchor is too thin to be the factual
basis; tags = entity-person + relationship-<type> + about-buckminster-fuller
(close figures) or fuller-adjacent + 1–3 topic tags.
Body: # <Name> + one-line identity; a short reworded description;
## Relationship to Fuller (the explicit relationship narrative, grounded in
the corpus mentions — e.g. Bauersfeld's dome priority; Erhard's Hunger Project
board; Newton as Fuller's foil; Russell & Fuller on working less); ## See Also
(bidirectional to the works/people where they appear, not to Fuller);
## Sources.
Bidirectional links + registry
## See Alsoholds only figure↔work and figure↔person links, each
reciprocated (work→figure / person→figure back-link added in the same batch).
Lint requires See Also bidirectionality; the Fuller hub is deliberately not
a See Also peer (that would demand a reciprocal fromr-buckminster-fuller).- The graph stays Fuller-centered two ways: the
relationship:field and a
prose link tor-buckminster-fullerin## Relationship to Fuller. - Add the 15 to
fuller-people.md(unified registry), alphabetical, each with
its— <relationship>annotation (matching the IMP-18 legend format). Registry
count 77 → 92. - Update
wiki/topics/_index.md, master.wiki/_index.mdarticle count
(+15 → ~223) and Recent Changes,log.md.
Verify
/wiki:lint --local-equivalent: 0 broken links; ## See Also bidirectional
(figure↔work, figure↔person); sources: resolve or compiled-from: conversation;
every relationship: value in the 9-value set with a matching
relationship-<type> tag; registry annotated + count consistent; indexes/counts
consistent.
Deferred (re-filed in housekeeping as a Batch 3)
- Thin/adjacent art-world figures: Robert Rauschenberg, Walter Gropius,
László Moholy-Nagy, Marcel Duchamp, Anni Albers, Stan VanDerBeek. - The classical-geometry lineage set aside during brainstorming: Plato, Euclid,
Pythagoras, Archimedes; plus Carl Jung (7 mentions, but all in third-party /
adjacent articles rather than a genuine Fuller relationship).
Testing / verification
Content task, no unit tests. Success = 15 referenced-figure pages, each with a
valid relationship: type, a "Relationship to Fuller" section, bidirectional
figure↔work links, a body link to Fuller, registry (92) + indexes updated,
lint-clean.
