Ingesting a complete book (ingest-by-reference)
This repo is a Wiki.js site: book directories and their ebook formats
(.epub/.pdf/.mobi/scans) live in the repo root and are served from
there. Books are therefore ingested by reference, not by copy — structurally
different from a single article or YouTube transcript:
- Keep the book in the repo root. Do not copy book content into
raw/. - Raw pointer: create
raw/repos/<slug>.md(type: repos) whose
source:points at the root book dir (../../../<book_dir>/), lists the key
files, and is taggedingest-by-reference. It is a manifest/pointer, not a
copy. - Ownership layer (if owned): add an
inventory/items/accession record
(BV-ID, ISBN, publisher, held/condition) and, if cataloged, a catalog record.
Articles and videos rarely need this. - Compiled article: write
wiki/topics/<slug>.mdas an overview
(abstract → structure → core ideas → significance → See Also → Sources). Its
sources:points at the raw pointer, not the root dir. - Authorship tag:
buckminster-fuller(by Fuller) /
about-buckminster-fuller(biographies, studies, anthologies) /
fuller-adjacent(third-party works merely related). Setvolatility: cold
and scaleconfidenceto how much real text the source actually contains. - Large books: skim the index + representative chapters; do not flatten the
whole text into the article.
By contrast, an article is copied in full into raw/articles/<date>-slug.md
and a YouTube video transcript into raw/notes/ — single-file, read whole,
no ownership layer.
