World Design Science Decade 1965–1975

R. Buckminster Fuller & John McHale · World Resources Inventory, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois.

The World Design Science Decade (WDSD) grew out of Fuller's 1961 proposal to the International Union of Architects (IUA) congress: that the world's schools of architecture and design devote the decade 1965–1975 to a "comprehensive anticipatory design science" — inventorying the planet's energy and material resources, human trends, and needs, and designing the artifacts and strategies to make the world work for 100% of humanity without ecological offense or disadvantage to anyone. Fuller and John McHale carried out the program through the World Resources Inventory at Southern Illinois University, publishing the findings as a series of documents.

This is the home for the digitized WDSD documents. Each document is a sub-page below, with the full transcribed text plus typeset-PDF and EPUB editions and the original searchable scan. All six documents are now digitized.
